First pre-production pictures · August 3rd, 2010

Here are a few photos from the pre-production sessions where we’ve been jamming on and recording demos of new material. There’s still much pre-production to do, so we’ll try and post more photos as we progress.

Just a quick note… · July 21st, 2010

Just a quick note since it’s been quiet around here lately: the rehearsing and demoing of new material is currently underway. We’ll post some pictures and more details on our progress before too long.

Rare live footage from 2003 · April 12th, 2010

Recently pulled from the vaults: A portion of the song “The Line that Divides,” performed live in 2003 in The Netherlands on the No Reply tour. The atmosphere of the night is retained despite the very raw audio & video quality.

We have continued the steady march towards what will eventually become the fourth Daylight Dies album and are planning to begin pre-production in North Carolina in June. This means piecing together all the fragments of material we’ve exchanged amongst ourselves and refining them into polished demos which will aid in recording the album.

Since we now live in various areas of the country (North Carolina, California and New York), we felt it was especially important to hone the music together prior to the final recording.

While a vague personality of the album has begun to take shape, there is still much more to write.

Happy New Year · January 3rd, 2010

In what has become a tradition of sorts, several of us took the opportunity of the new year to brew up the fourth batch of Daylight Dies beer, pictured below. This batch was a classic IPA.

Happy New Year.

(This is for personal consumption only, sorry!)

Writing new material · December 10th, 2009

All may have been quiet for a while on these pages, but it has not been quiet on the writing front. We are currently focused on writing new material for the next release and will be able to comment on it once we’re further along.

Also, keep your eyes on upcoming issues of Terrorizer Magazine, as Daylight Dies will be one of a few bands featured in an upcoming doom special.

More news later as it develops.

The live performances of “A Portrait in White” and “A Life Less Lived” from the first date of our North American tour earlier this year were filmed by UVTV in Rochester, New York. Despite having no bass guitar in the mix, the sound and video is solid and worth a watch.

We have a few tour shirts available now from our 2009 tour for Lost to the Living in the merchandise section.  The shirts feature the minimalistic artwork from the album. The front has the Daylight Dies logo, the “old” sleeping face from the the album artwork and the text “Lost to the Winter Tour.” The back has the kneeling artwork from the album artwork and the tour dates. These will never be reprinted.

Shifting into another season · March 9th, 2009

Although this update is a bit late, the time has allowed for some reflection on the tour we recently completed.  It was a short trip for us, covering only two weeks and ranging from New York to Florida, but it was filled with memorable experiences and fantastic people nonetheless. We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all the guys in Swallow the Sun, Darkane, Soilwork and the rest of the tour crew for being so kind to all of us. We were pleased to continue our luck of touring with great people, as that is certainly not always the case. We’d additionally like to thank everyone who came out to the shows — we’re glad the distances between gigs wasn’t too vast and we could often afford the opportunity to actually hang around and talk with many new faces. We’ve posted a few photos from the tour below.

Now the internal season shifts into composing new material for yet another era.

We’re off towards the snow and ice covered highways of Rochester to kick off our tour alongside Soilwork, Darkane and Swallow the Sun. Needless to say we’re looking forward to this one and are eager to see our fantastic tourmates perform each night. I’d be lying if there isn’t a bit of anxiety about speeding down the freeway to arrive at both gigs in time in our van and trailer through the snow and ice. Thankfully it’s just the first couple days to contend with, then we head towards Florida.

Regardless of all that, anticipation rides high and we have a good feeling this will be an intense albeit somewhat abbreviated tour for us. If you’re anywhere near the dates, we encourage you not to miss this one. It will be special. See you soon.
